Trengwainton Gardens is a 20th century garden, however, its framework dates back to the early 19th century, when it is believed the stunning avenue of Beech and Oak were planted and later, in 1927/8, Rhododendron seeds brought from the Himalayas where planted in the woodland area.
Facing due south, this 98 acre garden with its mild climate due to the passing Gulf Stream, is able to grow plants that can be grown nowhere else in England and consequently, you will see an abundance of exotic trees and shrubs from all four continents. A huge Magnolia from China, with flowers up to 10 ins across, enormous Tree Ferns and a stunning display of Hydrangeas.
A meandering stream runs through the valley, edged with Bamboo and water loving plants. At the top of the garden having steadily climbed for 1/3rd of a mile, you will find a Summer House and stunning views out over Mounts Bay and the beautiful Lizard Peninsular.
